The overall situation of China’s floodlight lighting industry

In recent years, my country’s export of lighting and electrical products has basically maintained a rapid and stable growth. In 2014, despite the sluggish export of products in many industries, my country’s lighting and electrical industry has “the best scenery here”, and the export growth rate still reached double digits, at 15.4%. The total export value reached 41.55 billion US dollars, of which: electric light source products were 6 billion US dollars, lighting products were 30.8 billion US dollars, and other products were 4.75 billion US dollars. Products are exported to 218 countries and regions around the world. On the whole, however, the growth slowed down due to the shrinking global market demand and the increased base due to rapid development in recent years.

1. Export of lighting products
In 2014, the export value of floodlight lamps reached 30.8 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 26.7%.

Among the exported lamps and lanterns, the export of fixed lamps has increased by 58.84%; the export of movable lamps has increased by 67.35%; the export of outdoor lamps is also close to 60%. The main driver of the substantial growth is also from LED lamps. (See Table 9)

In terms of lighting accessories, different from the substantial growth in the past few years, the export of each category has dropped significantly. Among them, glass parts were US$350 million, down 81.16% year-on-year; plastic parts were US$260 million, down 56.61% year-on-year; other material parts were US$1.87 billion, down 43.82% year-on-year. This is also due to the continuous improvement of the cost-effectiveness of LED lamps.

In terms of fixed lamps and lanterns (see Table 10), the export value and unit price have increased significantly in recent years. In 2014, the export value was 8.14 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 58.84%; the export unit price was 9.94 US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 11.4%. The main reason is that in recent years, the use of more LEDs in lamps and the added value of the functions of the lamps themselves.


Table 11 lists the top ten countries and regions for the export of fixed lamps and lanterns with tariff number 94051000 in 2011-2014. The substantial increase in export value also reflects the substantial increase in the added value of my country’s fixed lighting export products. The United States is still far ahead in terms of total volume, and Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia, as well as Middle Eastern countries such as the United Arab Emirates and Iran, are showing obvious growth momentum. This will also be a potential market that my country’s export enterprises should pay attention to. It is also worth noting that the number of fixed lamps exported to Japan is generally out of ten, but the export value is in the forefront, reflecting the relatively high-end demand for lamps and lanterns in the Japanese market; in comparison, the Russian and Asian markets For such products, it is more value for money.

In terms of portable lamps and lanterns (see Table 12), the trend in recent years is basically similar to that of fixed floodlight lamps, with both volume and price increasing. In 2014, the export volume was US$3.24 billion, a year-on-year increase of 67.35%; , a year-on-year increase of 20.5%. LEDs have been used in table and floor lamps relatively early.
Table 13 lists the top ten countries and regions for the export of portable lamps with tax number 94052000 from 2011 to 2014. It can be seen that the export of the original portable lamps is mainly aimed at developed economies. European and American countries have high requirements for the safety, light quality and expansion functions of table lamps, and the profits of exporting to these countries are also considerable; However, the markets in the Middle East and Southeast Asia have developed rapidly in the past two years, which deserves the attention of export enterprises.

In addition, the complete set of lamps and lanterns for Christmas trees with tax number 94053000 exported 690 million sets in 2014, a year-on-year increase of 17.51%; the export value was 1.67 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.67%. The growth rate has slowed down significantly, mainly on the one hand. The rapid decline in the price of LED lighting products; on the other hand, the global economic slowdown has caused users in many countries to start frugal and frugal, and the demand for Christmas lights is shrinking.
2. Product import situation

The annual import value of lighting products was US$9 billion, a year-on-year increase of 15.43%.

Among them, 340 million incandescent lamps were imported, mainly due to the increase in the import of special-purpose bulbs such as scientific research, medical treatment, and vehicles, while the general lighting bulbs decreased significantly; 10.11 million halogen tungsten lamps were imported, an increase of 12.08% year-on-year; 15.17 million fluorescent lamps were imported, a year-on-year increase. A decrease of 16.5%; 7.68 million HID lamps were imported, a year-on-year decrease of 6.87%.

The import of lighting products was 477 million US dollars, an increase of 8.65% year-on-year; among which, the import of tax number 94054090 “non-listed electric lamps and lighting devices” (including LED lighting products) was 230 million US dollars, an increase of 20% year-on-year.

Overall, exports of traditional lighting products showed a downward trend. Among them, incandescent lamps and high-pressure mercury lamps will gradually withdraw from the historical stage due to the general trend of global energy conservation and emission reduction; metal halide lamps are most directly affected by LED products, and have declined significantly in recent years; fluorescent lamps, tungsten halogen lamps, high-pressure sodium lamps and other products have also been used. After spending his golden period, he began to enter the downward channel. The export of LED lighting products has grown rapidly, and its cost performance has been continuously improved. At the same time, the market demand is also gradually expanding. The market prospect is considerable, but it will not be an explosive growth, but a gradual, one-off process.
